Let’s say you’re stranded by the sea, and all of your supplies had been washed away or stolen. You need to make a grilled peanut butter/nutella/bacon sandwich for yourself because there is no food in sight. Here are the steps involved:
1) Get some bread- preferably stale
2) Toast it until crispy using an open flame 3) Slather on nutella (or other sweet spread). Note that this step has its own instructions below; just keep reading! 4) Place banana slices on top of peanut butter so they don’t fall through while cooking. The surface will start to harden when done enough time has passed. Take out bananas first then toast another piece if needed.,
The “peanut butter nutella sandwich” is a sweet, savoury and delicious combination of ingredients. It’s easy to make at home, with only a few ingredients.
Day 6 of the AoM sandwich experiment has arrived. We asked readers for their favorite sandwich choices last month. We chose 20 entries out of 483 to feature on the site each daily in April. Finally, we’ll compile all of the entries into a massive man-sandwich cookbook. Enjoy.
The Grilled Peanut Butter/Nutella/Bacon/Banana Sandwich is today’s sandwich.
Nutella, the delectable, “wholesome” chocolate/hazelnut spread that is reportedly the crack cocaine of student cafeterias, received a few entries. Nutella, peanut butter, and marshmallow fluff were among the ingredients in one I tasted. It was nice, but extremely sweet; something Buddy the Elf would like, but it made me feel a bit dizzy.
So I attempted another recipe, this one with Nutella, peanut butter, banana, and bacon, as suggested by Ezekiel. On this one, I believed the bacon would help to balance out the sweetness of the other components. Let’s take a look at how things went.
Ingredients
- Bread made with white flour
- Peanut butter is a delicious spread.
- Nutella
- 1 banana, ripe
- bacon (two slices)
- Butter or olive oil
Step 1: Cook the bacon
What a magnificent sight.
Step 2: Cut the banana into slices.
Cut the banana in half lengthwise and widthwise (you should have four quarters with a flat side each).
Step 3: Brush the bread with oil.
One side of each slice of bread should be brushed with olive oil or butter.
Step 4: Spread the Nutella and Peanut Butter together.
On a piece of bread, spread a generous quantity of peanut butter and Nutella. Make sure they’re smeared on the other side of the olive oil or butter.
Step 5: Arrange the bananas and bacon in a stack.
Stack the bananas and add the bacon on top.
6th Step: Grill the Sandwich
Grill the sandwich in the same way you would a grilled cheese sandwich in a frying pan.
The Final Product
Please, have compassion!
Notes from the Tasters
The salty bacon worked well with the sweetness of the Nutella, peanut butter, and banana, as expected. However, this isn’t something I’d eat on a daily basis. It’s one of those “It’s 1 a.m., and I’m craving something sweet and salty” nibbles. One disadvantage is that it is quite dirty. The bacon and banana were slipping and sliding off of the bread as the warmed up peanut butter and Nutella lost their stiffness. Eat with a fork and a plate.
I’m guessing simply peanut butter, banana, and bacon — without the Nutella — would be as delicious. I haven’t tried it yet, however.
