Even if you do not manage to get through the whole week of fasting you will at least have provided yourself and your family with the basics of survival.

The one caveat to remember here is that even if you find yourself with access to a wide variety of fresh foods and livestock from which to choose from you will still have to make sure that you clean up afterwards. Food that has not been properly cleaned can be a source of deadly toxins that can harm the people who consume them. It is also a good idea to carry with you some bottled water to ensure that you never run out of clean drinking water during a long period of time. It is also a good idea to make sure that you have fresh clothes available at all times as well as useful items such as utensils, bandages and needles that can easily be used as first aid tools. Once you reach home, you will find that your local markets are now empty and that you have a few basic tools including cooking aids and utensils that you will need to make food. The rest of your stock can be divided between storing the food that you already have and taking care of any small wounds or sicknesses that you may pick up.
