When disaster strikes and you and your family have to evacuate your home, the last thing you need is to face a mountain of inventory problems, most of which will be unnecessary. If you are a first time survivalist and you have no experience in emergency preparedness, you should follow these general guidelines for family survival. These should be considered first and foremost when disaster strikes, because the longer you wait, the more lives are likely to be lost. You will want to be able to get to safety, but first you need to learn how to survive.

The first thing you need to do is to make a checklist of all your supplies, so you don’t end up stocking more items than you need. You will also need to know where your family is located, if they have a cell phone or not, and which routes they can take to reach you. In addition, a plan on how you will survive if the power fails. Some basic supplies that you should start with are, first aid kit, a mini flashlight, a compass, a pocket knife, a whistle, two way radios, a solar blanket, some sun tans, a folding shovel, a can opener, some duct tape, some rope, and a pair of gloves. Other items that are highly recommended are a spare battery, a smoke detector, a fire blanket, a mini cough bag, a blanket, and duct tape.

Most people tend to believe that most disasters will not happen to them, but if they are prepared for the worse, then they won’t have to spend countless hours searching for their lost belongings. One other item that you may find useful is a book about emergency preparedness. By learning about what to look for and how to react, you can protect yourself and your family for a long time. Also, it’s very important to make sure that everyone in the home knows what to do and remember to keep communication open.

Even if you don’t live by the coast, you should learn some basics about first aid and survival skills. While there are plenty of sources online or in books that can teach you these, if you want a more hands-on approach, you may want to consider a class at a local community college or YMCA. During this class, you’ll learn basic survival skills, which can be extremely helpful in situations where you may become stranded. These classes may also include topics on how to build a first aid kit and how to prepare food in case you are faced with a situation that leaves you without food and water.

Once everyone in the household has taken their courses, it’s time to review them and make sure that they’re doing what they’re supposed to. A lot of things can happen when you least expect them, so it’s wise to be prepared. Some examples of things that you may need to think about include flooding, a fire, a blackout, or being lost in a wilderness area. As long as you have some knowledge of what may happen, though, it shouldn’t be difficult to stay safe and enjoy your trip.

It’s also a good idea to get a first aid kit with all of the essentials. It doesn’t matter whether you’re having a romantic vacation or you’re camping with your children, food and water are important. If you’re traveling alone, it’s especially important to bring along a portable water filter so you can replace the water that you and your companion’s drink on the go. Many people fail to replace their water at all when they go camping and could end up becoming severely dehydrated and ultimately ill from the lack of water. It’s best to have a portable water filter so you can refresh yourself quickly.

If you’re staying at a hotel or campground, you may want to bring along some survival items that you can use in the event of an emergency. For instance, it’s always a good idea to have a flashlight and some candles, as well as a mini flash or light and some candles. You may also want to have some survival food such as canned goods or peanut butter and jelly. If you’re comfortable eating this type of food while you’re out in the wilds, then that’s great, but if not, you’ll need some type of emergency food that you can make by boiling water and using salt to make soups.

The above items are just a few of the items you should have in your family survival kit. Of course, you’ll want to make sure everyone has an adequate level of food and water and that none of your family members get sick before they make it back home. This is why it’s so important to have a family survival kit, even if you only have two people. In case of emergency, you don’t know what you’re going to face. By bringing along a family survival kit, you can be assured that you’ll be able to survive.
