As an outdoor lover myself, I have spent a lot of time thinking about my own emergency preparedness for wilderness survival tips. When most people think about wilderness survival tips, they typically picture some survivalist showing up in the middle of a strange wilderness and telling everyone what to do in an instant. This is nothing more than wishful thinking that will not work in real life. No matter how hard a survivalist might think his or her methods, they are still just suggestions. They do not know everyone’s circumstances, and they do not know if or when something tragic might happen. Thus, these suggestions are just there to help guide you into the right mindset and point you in the right direction.

One of the best wilderness survival tips I can give you is to be realistic. Yes, I am giving you the ‘big-head kid’ version of this tip, because this is for real life. Think about your situation – are you alone, with loved ones, or is there help? If you’re alone, make sure you have a phone nearby so you can get in touch with someone in case of an emergency. Also, stay away from large wild animals – they can be dangerous and even deadly in the wrong hands.

The next thing I would say is to be realistic when trying to plan a wilderness survival trip. This means you need to know exactly what you have in the way of supplies and equipment. Write down everything that you should take with you, and make sure you include at least two days’ worth of clothes, food and water. Even if you’re carrying only a few necessary items, it’s better safe than sorry.

Another one of my wilderness survival tips is preparation is better than being unprepared. Make sure you have a first aid kit with you, and know how to use it properly. You don’t want to risk being put in a serious situation, only to find out you can’t get help, because you didn’t bring the right things.

Always check your gear before leaving home for a trip. It’s important to have everything you could possibly need and to know where everything is located. For example, leave your cell phone with your family or someone you trust. If you have a tent, leave it in the tent with the other supplies. Don’t forget food and water, and make sure you know where to find them.

You might also want to rent a vehicle during your trip, if possible. Having a car can allow you to go farther with fewer stops, especially if you’re traveling in a more rural area. You’ll also need gas money or a way to sell off your collected supplies. Don’t be afraid to ask for helpif you need it. If you don’t feel comfortable asking for help, at least try to have a friend come along with you who knows how to get through a variety of situations.

Other wilderness survival tips include learning about fire, food, and water safety. Even if you know everything there is to know about staying safe in the wilderness, you should never forget basic first aid skills. Wilderness first aid consists of using ice-based bandages and towels to treat burns, scrapes, and bruises. Wilderness medical treatment includes using iodine patches, hydrogen peroxide, and beeswax, to treat small wounds. If you’re suffering from severe weather injuries such as a broken leg, you should consult with a wilderness doctor or go to a ranger.

Knowing which foods to bring with you is also very important. Some people find that freeze dried foods are much better than others. In addition to knowing your own body, you should also research which foods are good for you. If you’re not familiar with survival food ideas, there are many books on the subject that you can buy, or borrow from someone who is knowledgeable. You should never starve yourself during an emergency situation, so make sure that you’re never at a loss for food, or take as many emergency food supplies as possible.
